About Us
History
The club was founded in 2003 by students from the three universities of Leeds to provide a pathway from student rugby league to open age amateur rugby league.
The club first established itself under the banner of 'Leeds Akademiks' but, following an incredulous copyright lawsuit from a little known clothing manufacturer, the name 'Akademiks' was dropped for our already popular nickname the 'Akkies'.
The club's first league fixture was against Whitley Bay Barbarians and the club's first try scorer was Dan McCormack in a 58 v 12 points victory for the club.

Team Selection

All players selected will be informed via email or telephone and the teams will be displayed on the website. It is ultimately the player's responsibility to ascertain their selection if they have not been successfully contacted.
Please ensure that you inform the Director of Rugby or alternatively a member of the Selection Committee if you are unavailable to train or play for any reason, or become unavailable after selection. Third party contact is not acceptable.
